A lot of love for my new toy

And a Happy New Year to all!

Christmas seems an age away now but the best present I received was my Magimix food processor – something I’ve been coveting for ages (it’s actually a favourite of chefs from Jamie Oliver to Ella Woodward). It’s been transformational in making so many things – from my salsa verde (recipe below, photo above) to one of my least favourite jobs: chopping onions.

My tips:You need to make sure that you click and lock the bowl and lids into place before turning on – or it wont turn on. This is a safety feature – and is very straight forward. And use the pulse setting if you’re not sure how long something might take – this gives you a bit more control.

I’ve lost count of the amount of customers at the cafe who’ve asked how we find the time (and space) to create our menu, freshly every day, and I think good equipment plays a pivotal role. So the point of all this is: if you received a bit of kitchen gadgetry over Christmas, don’t leave it languishing in a box in the cupboard!

So far I’ve used my Magimix to make everything from soup to smoothies – so yes it’s worth the hype. I think I’d now be lost without it.

Salsa Verde

70g basil
40g mint
30g parsley
Juice of 1 lemon
2 tbsp capers
10-15 tbsp good olive oil (maybe more)
½ tsp salt (add more as you wish)

Pulse it all in a food processor (Magimix!) until it all combines!
